The company’s two main objectives are:
· Preserve and promote Haitian traditional dance heritage
· Establish cultural exchanges among all ethnic groups
To attain these objectives, the company is available for the following services: lecture/discussion, lecture/demonstration, master classes, performances, full concerts, and school residencies. Our goal is to educate while entertaining all types of audiences. We provide services to schools, universities, professional organizations and all ethnic groups interested in discovering the richness of this art form.
Lecture/discussion: The Company presents a conference regarding a specific subject related to Haitian traditional culture. Subject matters include vodou, history, society, etc… A guest speaker is invited and there is a question/answer series.
Lecture/demonstration: In these types of events, the company performs a selection of dances, where the artistic director explains the history of the dance, the origin, significance, costuming and the role the dance plays in the life of Haitian people. The audience is invited to learn dance movements.
School residencies: We have developed a curriculum based on Haitian and Afro-Haitian dance and history to help students learn and understand the cultural heritage of Haiti, particularly the African Diaspora. Our expert of teachers bring the dance and the music to your school and university.
Master classes: Our technique is based on Haitian and Afro-Haitian traditional folk dances and rhythms. A master dancer/teacher from the company or aboard is invited to teach a class with live drumming. Classes are available to dancers of all levels. Private session available upon request.
Performances: These types of events vary from 15-60minutes with a limited number of dancers and are suitable for all audiences and diverse facilities.
Full concerts: vary from 60-90minutes and features all company members (dancers, drummers, and singers) performing a major work from our rich repertoire, in a theater or auditorium.
